The monstrance was developed from the idea of lightness, both physically and visually. We tried to bring in the etheral aspect from some of the halos painted during the Renaissance. As it turned out, this design resembles the halo as painted by Botticelli in "Madonna and the Child with Angels". The rays of light emanate from the luna housing in a three dimensional pattern. The cardinal point rays are longer and of a larger diameter to emphasize the cruciform. The luna is simple and clean, focusing the eye on the Blessed Sacrament. The base support is made of spun metal surrounded by 12 formed rods. All details are finished in gold with the base support coated in Mary Blue. The luna accepts 3" diameter host.
